Udupi Dist Administration gives green signal for sand extraction from Sep 1
Udupi: The District Administration has given the green signal for the extraction of sand in CRZ sand blocks from today, September 01. The district administration has formulated regulations for the extraction of the sand in CRZ Blocks.
Minister in-charge district Pramod Madhwaraj speaking to mangalorean.com said that permits are issued and the sand mining will be fully operational from today, September 01. Permits were issued on time but the BJP is playing vendetta politics to stop sand mining in the district. The district administration has played a vital role in formulating regulations for the extraction of sand in CRZ sand blocks. “My endeavour is to ensure enough sand for the development of the Udupi district at an affordable cost and also to protect the environment as per the CRZ norms”, he added.
Teams consisting of Mines and Geology, Revenue, Police and Transport Departments and the Panchayat Development Officers are formed to monitor sand mining in the district. Strict action will be initiated against those who illegally transport sand to the other districts. The sand extracted in Udupi district cannot be transported to the other districts. The district borders have been sealed and stringent vigil has been kept on the movement of vehicles. Those vehicles transporting sand extracted from Udupi district to other districts will be seized and fines will be imposed.
