Udupi Dist BJP observes ‘Anti-People’s Mandate Day’ against Cong-JDS Government
Udupi: Responding to a statewide call, Udupi district’s BJP unit on Wednesday observed a black day against the Congress-JD(S) government headed by HD Kumaraswamy ahead of its swearing-in ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the Indian National Congress has lost its base in the state and that is why they formed the government with Kumaraswamy. “Hunger, greed and power are the basis of JD(S)-Congress alliance. Such alliance will not even last for 3 months. The JD(S) has no base and identity in 20 districts and its candidates have forfeited their deposit in 129 Assembly constituencies they contested,” said Poojary.
Poojary further said that the Congress and JDS have hijacked the people’s mandate and entered an unholy alliance. “On the day this unholy coalition government takes office, the BJP decided to observe this day as ‘Anti People’s Mandate Day’ across the state,” he said.
During the election campaign, HD Kumaraswamy had assured the people of Karnataka that if he comes to power, he will waive the farmers loan within 24 hours of coming to power. “It is unfortunate that Kumaraswamy has now backtracked on the issue on the grounds that a decision can be taken after analyzing the financial condition and the compulsions of the coalition politics. It is apparent that the JD(S) is trying to hoodwink the farmers,” he added.
Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, BJP district president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, ZP president Dinakar Babu, vice president Sheela K Shetty, BJP leaders Prabhakar Poojary, Akshith Shetty Herga, Raghavendra Kini and others were present.
