Udupi Dist Police to Begin Special Drive on Shrill Horns – SP Laxman Nimbargi
Udupi: The District police have decided to begin a special drive on shrill horns and have warned motorists against fitting their vehicles with shrill horns said Laxman Nimbargi SP Udupi.
A caller from Udyavar Padukere complained that tippers carrying boulders that are used to check sea erosion are being parked on the side of the road resulting in the obstruction of free flow of traffic. SP Laxman Nimbargi responded immediately and instructed the Malpe PSI to clear the road.
A resident of Belur near Kota area informed the SP that illegal stone mining was taking place in the Kota police station limits. The SP assured of taking action to stop the illegal mining.
A caller said that vehicles are being parked on the road during the Laksahdeepothsava programme leading to traffic jam in Karkala city, SP said that he will make appropriate arrangements to solve the problem. A Caller urged the SP to initiate strict action against the Bus operators for using shrill horns in City limits, SP said that he will take appropriate action.
Issues of money lending, overcharging by autorickshaw drivers to overspeeding of buses, foot-path encroachment and traffic problems dominated during the phone-in programme. A total of 23 calls were received by SP Laxman Nimbargi.
5 Matka cases were registered and 5 persons arrested. 5 gambling cases were registered and 40 arrested, one illegal liquor sale, 4 NDPS, 52 COTPA, 22 drink and drive, 120 shrill horn cases, 49 cases for using mobile while driving, 1949 cases for riding without helmet, 61 for overspeeding and 2702 cases for other crimes under the Motor Vehicles Act were recorded after the last phone-in programme.
