Udupi District administration has no interest in celebrating Tipu Jayanti?

Udupi: The district administration seems to have lost interest in celebrating the Tipu Jayanti which has given rise to protests by Muslim organizations. The government programmes are celebrated in community halls, school auditoriums or the district administration hall but the district administration has decided to celebrate the Tipu Jayanti in closed premises, that is the Deputy Commissioners Court Hall. When questions were raised on the decision of the district administration, the district administration has said that it has been organized in the deputy commissioner’s court hall due to security reasons.

The deputy commissioner’s court hall can accommodate only 35 persons and with 20 presspersons in the hall, the hall can accommodate another 10 persons, restricting the participation of the public in the programme.
