Udupi District BJP demands resignation of DKS and Jarkiholi

Udupi: Mattar Ratnakar Hegde Udupi district president of the Bharatiya Janata Party demanded the resignation of Energy Minister D K Shivakumar and Small Scale Industries Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi whose houses were raided by the Income Tax department.

He was speaking at the press meet held at the BJP office on Friday, August 18. He said that following the recovery of huge amounts of cash, gold and documents related to their assets, it is established that both are corrupt. Hence, they should be dropped from the cabinet.

Mattar strongly opposed the move of the state government in stopping funds from the Muzrai Department to Sri Devi Vidya Kendra, Punacha, and Sri Rama Vidya Kendra, Kalladka, for mid-day meals. In 2004 when the BJP government is power, the government had directed the Muzrai Department to utilize a part of the revenue of Muzrai temples towards the mid-day meals of school children under the adoption scheme. In 2007, the facility was extended to Sri Devi Vidya Kendra, Punacha and Sri Rama Vidya Kendra, Kalladka.

The recent order by the state government is purely an act of political vendetta. The government has deprived the children of those two institutions the mid-day meal facilities. Most of the children who study in Kalladka and Punacha schools are from the minority and backward classes. He urged the state government to continue the facilities to those schools.

Mattar also demanded a ban on KFD, PFI and SDPI in the state. Assault and murder of Hindu activists in the district have increased after the state government withdrew the cases against the KFD activists. Leaders from the PFI and KFD are involved in the murder of Sangh Parivar leaders. They have also been involved in terrorist activities. The state government should ban the PFI, SDPI and KFD organizations.

Further speaking, he condemned the stay order issued by the state government on the move to name the Light House Hill Road from Jyothi circle to Catholic Club as Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty Road. Mulki Sundaram Shetty has contributed immensely to the society in the banking sector. With political interest, some people are unnecessarily creating confusion.

Commenting on Alvas Student Kavya’s death Mattar urged the police to complete the investigation as soon as possible in the death of Kavya, a Class 10 student of Alva’s Education Foundation in Moodbidri and put an end to the controversy surrounding her death. The death of Kavya was unfortunate. At the same time, the institution has done a commendable work in the field of education, culture, literature and sports. He condemned the attempt to tarnish the image of the institution by using the case of Kavya’s death.

Recently the BJP MP along with the delegation of Fishermen met the union minister for Agriculture and also Road surface minister Nithin Gadkari and urged him to develop the Hejamady fishing harbour. The minister immediate approved Rs 140 crore for the projects. Since it is the State and Central government joint project, the union government has sanctioned Rs 70 crore while the remaining amount will be borne by the state government. Since the last 4 years, the local MLA has been giving only assurances to the people of Hejamadi but nothing has done, he added.

BJP leader Yashpal Suvarna, Suresh Nayak, Katapdi Shankar Poojary and Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty were present in the press meet.
