“There was a time when engineering students were opting for foreign countries to build their career but with depression in the global market, students tend to choose civil services and government jobs to shape their career. Job satisfaction is a primary factor to succeed in every job. These days software engineers are finding it difficult to spend their money due to hectic work schedule and without job satisfaction. Civil service is a platform where you can serve the society and shape one’s career,” he added.

Nitish K, an engineering graduate from PES Institute of Engineering, Bengaluru, managed to feature in the top 10 AIR list in his third attempt. Nitish K is the son of K Ramakrishna Hebbar, an employee of Karnataka Bank and Bharati, a homemaker. He hails from Ambagilu of Udupi district.

In his first attempt in 2012, Nitish cleared the Prelims and Mains but missed the ranking by ten marks in the interview. However, he was able to clear all three rounds in his second attempt and gained 547th ranking in 2013. He then joined the Indian Audit and Accounts Service.

Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde, president of Udupi district BJP, said that one day Nitish will serve as the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi. Nitish’s hard work and dedication has helped him succeed in the civil service examination, he added.

Former MLC Monappa Bhandary, state BJP Secretary Shymala Kundar, Githanjali Suvarna, Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
