Udupi: The district Congress filed a complaint in the Udupi Town Police station on April 23 against the Head of Republic TV, Arnab Goswami for his controversial comments over Congress president Sonia Gandhi related to the Palghar lynching case. Cases have also been filed against Arnab in all the districts of Maharashtra.

In a complaint, President of Udupi district Congress, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor has stated, “With all due respect, I the undersigned do hereby write this to bring to your kind attention the consistent demeanor of one Mr. Arnab Goswami’. Mr. Arnab Goswami hosts prime time debates on the channel “Republic TV Wherein Shri Arnab Goswami has flouted the Supreme Court guidelines related to false, irresponsible being explosive in nature which has all the tendencies to cause disharmony, feelings of enmity, hatred between different religious, racial, language and regional groups, castes, and communities”.

Respected Sir, It is pertinent to mention that the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Tehseen Poonawalla WPC) 754/2016 has laid down guidelines to curb such frivolous, irresponsible messages aimed at disrupting the social harmony within a society to prevent any kind of greater damage.

It has been repeatedly observed that Arnab has consistently violated the law of the Land. He uses his sharp rhetoric’s which are callous and off the cuff statements being derogatory with the tendency to harm individual reputation as well as pitting one class of society against the other.

Mr Arnab has continuously made remarks that are derogatory and communal in nature in his daily debates on his channel. His targeted comments are against the gender, caste, and minorities with a tendency to incite violence. His debates on his channel have an impact on people as it frames a picture into the mind of people creating hatred among the different castes and different religious groups.

His daily biased comments on his TV Debate shows on his channel have resulted in disharmony among the people beyond religion and caste. In his debates on his TV shows, he always targets the marginalized, minorities and curb any kind of dissent with rude tone and offensive behavior.

Henceforth, it is requested to take note ‘derogatory and unprincipled’ behavior and outrightly nip it in the bud before it results in greater social discord amongst various classes of the society.
