Udupi district Joins Bharat Bandh, Buses go off road

Udupi: The Bharat Bandh called by Congress and other various organizations over the rising fuel prices has begun amid tight security in Udupi district on September 10.

All the private and government buses have remained off the roads in Udupi district.Most of the shops and business establishments remained closed in the district. Early in the morning, Congress and CIT(U) activists requested the shop owners to support the Bharat Bandh, they went around the Udupi City seeking support from the people for the bandh and urging them to keep their shops closed till evening.

The district administration has already declared a holiday for the schools and colleges in the district citing the impact of the bandh on transportation service.

The Udupi service and City Bus-stands wore a deserted look. The passengers who arrived from Bengaluru and other different parts in buses were seen stranded early in the morning. However, after some time a few autorickshaws were seen plying in the city.
