Udupi District Mahila Congress Initiates Village homestay in Kudubi Colony
Udupi: As part of the birth anniversary of the late prime minister Indira Gandhi, the Udupi district Mahila Congress organized Village homestays by its leaders with the Kudubi colony residents at Olabailu near Kokkarne here on November 17 night.
The programme was inaugurated by Congress leader and also the Udupi Assembly constituency campaign committee in-charge Amrith Shenoy along with other women from the Udupi District Mahila Congress by lighting 100 lamps and paying respect to the great soul of Indira Gandhi.
Speaking on the occasion Veronica Cornelio district president of Mahila Congress said that the women’s congress members will try to understand the problems of the Kudubi community families. The women’s wing will work towards providing basic facilities in the colonies where they reside within the next one year. As a result, the programme will not be a one-day stay. Instead, the Women’s Congress will continue to interact with the families throughout the year. The women’s congress will highlight the state government’s pro-policies during their Village homestays, she added.
During the village homestay on behalf of the women’s Congress, Kudubi community leaders Santha Naika and Subbi Bai were felicitated. All the participants were served with the community meal.
Udupi district Mahila Congress in-charge Shaila Kuttappa, Newly appointed district president Geetha Wagle, TP member Dr Sunitha Shetty, Brahmavar Block women’s Congress president Gopi K Naika, district vice president Jyothi Hebbar, Rajeev Gandhi Panchayat Raj association district convener Roshni Olivera and others were also present.
