Udupi: A mother and daughter were assaulted with a sickle by a man at Diana Kukkikatte here, on May 1.
The deceased have been identified as Archana (24) and her mother Nirmala (55).
According to the police, one Sunjay Dutt, a native of Assam, hacked Archana and her mother with a sickle. Nirmala died on the spot while Archana died on the way to the hospital.
It is learnt that on the night of April 30, there was a fight between Sunjay and Nirmala. It is suspected that Sunjay is Archana’s husband.
A case has been registered in the Udupi Town Police Station.
