Udupi: In a tragic accident eight children were injured as a speeding bus collided with an autorickshaw in-front of the City Municipality Council here on March 13.
According to the police, Durgamba bus plying from Mangaluru to Udupi collided with an autorickshaw while attempting to overtake it. The auto was carrying home students of St Mary’s School and Christian High School.
Two of the students sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital. Other students along with the auto driver have sustained minor injuries.
The Udupi Traffic Police Station PSI Jaya reached the spot and helped the students and the driver to be admitted to the hospital.
As soon as the accident took place the driver and the conductor of the bus fled from the spot.
A case has been registered in Traffic Police Station and investigation is on.
