Udupi: Passion and dedication are the mantras for achieving success. Here is the story of a young lad determined to scale new heights in swimming.
Ronan Lewis (8), son of Roshan and Shaila Lewis, swims 1.15 km in the swimming pool. His father Roshan has been motivating Ronan in this task. Ronan swam 86 rounds in the 28 meter long swimming pool continuously this Sunday, September 27.
It took 3 months for Ronan to learn swimming. Guinness record holder Gopal Kharvi and Chandrashekar are his mentors.
Ronan is pursuing his studies in 3rd Standard at St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpadi. His interests are studying, cycling and chess. His brother Royden Louis studies in 1st standard and has interest in playing chess.
Ronan’s mentor Gopal Kharvi says that Ronan used to fear swimmimg a lot in the beginning of the training session. Later, he showed great interest in swimming. “He has a bright future,” he added.
Ronan’s father Roshan Lewis says that he used to accompany Ronan to the swimming classes and says that he will continue to support him in whichever field he is interested.
Roshan Lewis is interested to register his sons record in the Limca-Guinness Book of Records, but since the age limit to register for the record is 13 years, Ronan has to wait for another 5 years.
