Udupi: The district has excelled as the second topper in II PUC examinations in the state with an overall pass percentage of 90.35. As many as 13,296 students had appeared for the examinations, of which 12,013 have passed.
Of the 13,296 students who appeared for the examination, 7,229 were boys and 7,603 were girls. In the Arts stream, 1,882 students appeared for the examination out of which 1,485 have passed resulting in an overall pass percentage of 78.91.
In the Commerce stream, the overall percentage is 92.38. A total of 7,182 students appeared of which 6,635 have passed. A total of 4,232 students appeared for the examinations under the science stream and 3,957 of them have passed resulting in pass percentage of 93.5.
The total percentage of students passing from the urban area is 90.56 percent while it is 90.18 percent in rural areas. A total of 5,931 students have appeared for the examinations in the urban area of which 5,371 have passed. In the rural area, 7,365 students appeared of which 6,642 have passed.
Akshay G Rao
In the Science stream, Neha D Shetty of Jnanasuda PU College Ganitha Nagar Karkala, Prajna of Vidyodaya School Udupi and Akshay G Rao of RN Shetty College Kundapur, Pooja Nayak of Jnanasuda PU College Ganitha Nagar Karkala topped the ranks with the second, third and fourth place in the state. Neha D Shetty scored 595 marks while Prajna scored 594, Akshay and Pooja scored 593 each.
Raksha Shenoy from Jnanasuda PU College Ganitha Nagar Karkala has topped the commerce discipline in the district with 595 marks. She is one of the toppers among the state’s top 10. Ullas Kamath from SMS College, Brahmavar and Priyanka Nayak from PPC have secured second and third respectively.
In Arts discipline, Sonia from St Cecily’s College Udupi stood first with 562 marks. Rakshitha and Megha KP of Viveka Pre-university College Kota secured second and third respectively.

Speaking to mangalorean.com, Neha D Shetty and Raksha Shenoy said that they never attended any coaching classes or tutorials and their preparations for exams were based on classroom teachings.
Neha D Shetty wants to be a Chemical engineer and wants to study engineering in NITK Surathkal. Her father Dayanand Shetty is a mechanical engineer in Doha Qatar and mother Savitha Shetty is a housewife.
Raksha Shenoy wants to be a Charted Accountant. Her father Krishna Shenoy is a businessman and mother Manjula Shenoy is a housewife.
