Udupi: Gold, silver ornaments stolen from Barkur Kalikamba Temple

Udupi: Unidentified persons broke into the Kalikamba Temple Barkur and stole Gold, Silver and Bronze articles worth over Rs 4 lakh during the wee hours of June 26.

The incident came to light in the morning when the temple priest, who came to perform the morning Puja, noticed the open door.

According to the police, thieves broke open the lock of the front door to gain entry and decamped with 14 kg silver articles, two gold chains and bronze articles, with a total worth of Rs 5 lakh.

The Brahmavar police along with the dog squad and fingerprint experts visited spot. ASP Santhosh Kumar, Brahmavar Circle inspector also visited the spot.

The theft was recorded on CCTV cameras installed in the temple. The footage showed two men stealing ornaments from the temple.

A case has been register in the Brahmavar Police Station.
