Udupi: The State Health Minister U T Khader will inaugurate the newly built ‘Lions-BEL Burns Centre’ at the District Government Hospital Ajjarkadu on Saturday April 18, said Ln. K Suresh Prabhu, PMJF, district Governor Dist 317C
He was addressing the mediapersons at the press club on Thursday, April 16. “Currently, all patients with burn injuries in Udupi, Karkala and Kundapur are being referred to the Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru. Lions Club and Bharat Electronics Ltd. have joined hands with the District Government Hospital to provide a ward in the District Government Hospital. The ward will be completely air-conditioned. It will have four beds for male and four beds for female patients in two separate general units. Two beds for male and two beds for female patients in two special or critical units will also be present at the ward. Lions-BEL have spent Rs 80 lakh for the building and the infrastructure of the ward.”
“Lions Club will be maintaining an additional Rs 25 lakh as corpus funds for maintenance of the ward. After the government provides the staff pattern for the ward, we intend to pay for the services of the specialists and nurses,” he added.
“Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and district minister in-charge, will inaugurate the male ward, while M L Shanmuk, director (Human Resource) of Bharath Electronics Ltd Bengaluru, will inaugurate the female ward. Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi constituency, will preside over the function.”
“In the evening, Lions XII district convention ‘Parivar’ ceremony will be held at ALN Rao Memorial Auditorium Ajjarkad Udupi. The Lions Dist. 317C comprises of the revenue districts of Udupi, Shivamogga, Davangere, Chitradurga and some parts of Uttar Kannada.”
Ln Sapna Suresh PMJF, first lady of the District 317C, will inaugurate the convention. Ln. K Suresh Prabhu, PMJF, district Governor Dist 317C, will preside over the function.
