Udupi: The State Health Minister U T Khader inaugurated the newly built ‘Lions-BEL Burns Centre’ at the District Government Hospital Ajjarkadu on Saturday, April 18.
Udupi district minister in-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the male ward while M L Shanmukh, Director of Human Resources, Bharath Electronics Ltd Bangalore, inaugurated the female ward. Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi, presided over the function.
Addressing the gathering, U T Khader lauded the efforts of Lions Club and Bharath Electronics and said that the state government will set up a model dialysis centre in the district hospital soon. “In future, the state will observe a dramatic change in the health sector,” he said, urging private institutions to support the promotion of healthcare. “Udupi district hospital will be upgraded and this process is on going. The state government will extend the benefits of burns injury treatment, which is already being offered to BPL card holders, to APL card holders as well as 70 percent discount. A proposal has been submitted to the government for the integrated development of the district Government Hospital. The hospital will be developed in a phased manner, ” he added.
