Udupi: U T Khader, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, visited the Community Health Centre, Shirva and inspected the facilities at the centre here, on September 20.
Khader inspected the hospital dispensary, wards, laboratories, X-Ray room and other facilities and interacted with the medical officer of the hospital.
Villagers and social organisations appealed to Khader for the extension of the hospital. Khader receiving their appeal said that the number of outpatients visiting the health centre is very low and if the extension of the hospital is initiated, it will lead to non-utilisation of extended resources. The centre has 30 bed capacity, doctors along with staff will be appointed. If there is a rise in outpatients, then extension of the hospital will be initiated.
He also addressed the grievances of the locals who appealed to initiate steps to improve government hospitals in the locality.
ZP member Ida Gibba D’Souza, Mudarangadi GP President David D’Souza, advocate Wilson Rodrigues, GP members Ignatius D’Souza, Gilbert D’Souza and others were present.
