Udupi: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kallianpur Deanery organised a deanery level youth convention, “Yuva Ekthar – 2015” at the Milagres Tri-centenary Hall, Kallianpur here on Sunday, August 23.
The programme began with an invocation. Jeston Fernandes, president of ICYM Kallinapur deanery, welcomed the gathering. Fr Stany B Lobo, Rector of Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur, inaugurated the convention.
Derick Mascarenhas, president of ICYM Udupi Diocese, in his keynote address pointed out the independence and values of the life of youngsters. He gave some of hints on the impact of the social media.
Fr Stany B Lobo in his inaugural message said that youth should stand on their own feet with self confidence.
Fr Fredrick D’Souza – Director of ICYM Kallianpur deanery, Fr Richard D’Souza – Director of Canara Communications Mangaluru, Fr Edwin D’Souza – Director of Youth Commission, Diocese of Udupi, Melroy Almeida – President of Milagres unit, units presidents of Kallianpur deanery and Central Council members were present on the dais.
After the inaugural programme, a training session was conducted by Fr Richard D’Souza. Following lunch, group singing and skit competitions were held. Fr Denis Lobo of Pilar Fathers, Suraj Francis Noronha and Aruna Noronha were the judges for the competitions.
During the valedictory function, Fr Fredrick D’Souza handed over the prizes of group singing and skit competitions.
