Udupi: A woman passenger, travelling by train from Karwar to visit her brother-in-law who is admitted in Manipal hospital, delivered a baby in a toilet in the train at Indrali here, on May 26.
The woman passenger has been identified as Vijaya Kumari, a native of Karwar. Vijaya Kumari was travelling by train to Udupi to visit her brother-in-law who is admitted in Manipal hospital. When the train reach near Indrali, she went to the toilet. Suddenly, she developed labour pain and gave birth to a baby. When other passengers went to the toilet, they noticed that Vijaya Kumari giving birth and immediately informed the railway officials.
The railway officials arranged an ambulance and shifted Vijaya Kumari along with the newborn to Women and Child Government Hospital in Udupi.
The mother and the newborn are said to be in healthy condition.
