Udupi: The sub-registrar’s office and other prominent offices will be opened inKaup after consultations, said Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and District Minister in-charge. He was speaking after distributing various schemes to the beneficiaries of Kaup constituency here, on July 11.
“Kaup will be a taluk centre and the establishment of prominent offices is a prelude for the creation of the taluk. A memorandum has been submitted to the Chief Minister for establishing a sub-treasury office in Udupi. Talks are being held with the Education Minister Kimmane Rathnakar for establishing South BEO(Block Education Office) in Kaup. The primary health centre will be upgraded as a memorandum has been submitted to U T Khader, Minister for Health and Family Welfare,” he said.
A waste management plant will be set up in Kaup town municipality limits. The construction of an underground drainage system costing Rs 32 crores is in progress. The project has been planned to provide water to Kaup round the clock. Housing sites for the poor have been provided to 600 people while land has been located for providing housing sites for another 700 people.
“A committee has been formed under the Assistant Commissioner to provide relief for losses caused by natural calamities. The Panchayat Development Officers and Village Accountants have been instructed to address the grievances of people; failing to do so will not be tolerated,” he said.
Sorake distributed a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to the family of the fisherman who died recently. More than 1000 beneficiaries were given cheques and land deeds under various schemes.
