Udupi: The Udupi district excise department sleuths have seized 14,500 litres of liquor, which was being transported from Goa by an Innova car near Heroor Cross, Brahamvar here on Sunday December 20.
The arrested has been identified as Raghavendra (26) a resident of Kappanda Kariya, Kattiengeri near Moodubelle.
According to the Excise officials the Innova Car was searched at the check post in Heroor on suspicion and the officials found no documents related to the transport of liquor. The officials have seized the Innova car, one mobile phone and Rs 13.50 lakh worth of Goan liquor.
Under the guidance of S L Rajendra Prasad the Joint Commissioner of Mangaluru division for Excise and the direction of Excise DC K S Murali and DySP K Vinod Kumar, the team of Joythi N, K Narayana, H Shanker Hemmadi, U Shivashanker, Raghavendra Elagi, Ganesh and others led by K Suresh Kumar took part in the operation.
