Udupi: A person has been arrested for allegedly obtaining loan by depositing artificial gold in the Manappuram Gold Loan Finance.
The arrested has been identified as Abdul Majeed (32) Resident of Pandubettu.
According to the police Majeed had pledged 48.6 grams of artificial gold and availed a loan of Rs 93,000. The bank official after sanctioning the loan found that the gold pledged by Majeed was fake gold. Bank Officials filed a compliant against Majeed in the Malpe and Udupi Police Stations on July 26.
On getting credible information, the Udupi police succeeded in arresting the accused from Anand Rao Circle, Bengaluru on July 28 and brought him to Udupi.
The operation was carried out under the able guidance of CPI Udupi Srikanth, PSI Malpe Ravikumar and PSI Udupi Girish.
The Accused was produced before the Udupi sessions court and sent to Judicial custody.
