Udupi: The controversial Made Snana ritual was performed at the Sri Krishna Temple here, on Thursday, December 17.
Around 20 people participated in the ‘made made snana’ ritual held near the Subrahmanya Gudi at the premises of Sri Krishna Temple.
According to the rituals, food was served to the members of the Brahmin community after the puja at the temple. After the meal, devotees rolled over the plantain leaves with food leftovers to fulfill their ‘harake’ (vow).
A Kaniyoor Math Vidwan Madhwesh Tantri said that the practice has been going on here since the last 500 years. “Devotees roll over the leaves as part of a ‘harake’ (offering) in return for fulfillment of a wish. People have believes in the ritual since a long time but the math will not forcing anyone to perform the ‘made made snana’,” he added.
Brahmins who support this disgusting practice should be ashamed to lend their support to this kind of inhuman act. yes, everybody knows that these Brahmins exploited the people for ages in the name of Made snana or Kattige pooje, and whatever pooje they can think of solely for the purpose of filling up their coffers.
