Udupi: The District Minister In-charge, Vinay Kumar Sorake, said that Rs 11 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Athradi Shirva and Katapadi Belman road. The work will begin soon.
He was speaking after inaugurating various development projects in Shirva Grama Panchayat on Tuesday, April 28.
Rupees 4 crore has been sanctioned for Kurkalu – Pajaka – Moodubelle Grama Sadak road and the new market at Shirva is being developed at a cost of Rs 81 lakhs, he added.
“For providing drinking water facility to areas from Manipura to Kaup, Rs 52 crore has been released. Work will start within a week. There is a plan to supply purified drinking water to all villages in the Kaup constituency, and water purification units will be installed in the villages soon. There is acute shortage of drinking water in different parts of the district.”
“Arrangements will be made to supply water through tankers. Sufficient funds will be released from the government to tackle water crisis. Measures will be taken to rejuvenate sources of water. Permanent drinking water schemes will be implemented in the district,” the minister said.
Earlier, the minister participated in a guddali puja for ‘Namma Grama, Namma Rasthe’ and also inaugurated the veterinary hospital building. The minister also distributed government schemes to the beneficiaries on the occasion.
Shirva Grama Panchyat president Hasanabba Sheikh, vice president Shalet D’Souza, ZP member Ida Gibba D’Souza, TP president Sunitha Nayak, Vice president Ganesh Kumar, TP member Krishna Poojary, TP EO Krishnanada and others were present.
