Udupi: MLA Pramod Madhwaraj Inaugurates Beary Academy’s Cultural Convention

Udupi: The Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy organised a day long Beary Sahitya – Samskratika Sangama at Lions Bhavan Brahmagiri here, on Saturday, September 5.

The programme began with a patriotic song. Hameed Padubidri, member of the academy, welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj by beating the drums.

In his inaugural message, Pramod Madhwaraj said that language has unites us amid all barriers. India is the only nation where 1,600 languages are spoken. The languages which we speak and understand today are the gifts of our ancestors. People who are wise do not indulge in creating communal tensions but support communal harmony. The Beary language should flourish and unite people, he added.

The academy’s annual program CD and Belkeri Special Supplement was also released on the occasion. To mark the Teachers’ day celebration, four Beary teachers was felicitated. Achievers were also honoured by the MLA.

Yahya Nakwa (Udupi District Wakf committee president), Gulam Mohammed (Vice president Wakf committee president), Ashfaq Ahamed (President Udupi district Muslim Okkuta), Chittaranjandas Shetty (President Tulu Nadu Rakshana Vedike), Nazeer Koteshwara (Vice president Tulu Nadu Rakshana Vedike), Kaseem Barkur and others were present.
