Udupi: Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA Udupi constituency, offered Bagina to the Swarna River near Krishnagaraka Snanagatta, Shimbra Siddivinayaka Temple, Muduperampalli here on July 18. The programme was organized by Muduperampalli Yuvaka Mandala, Sanskar Bharthi, District Administration and City Municipal Council, Udupi.
Pramod Madhwaraj speaking to the mediapersons said that eight villages including the City Municipality are provided drinking water from the Swarna River after treatment. “There was a time when the water was supplied through tankers, but for the last two years there has been no such problem,” he said.
The programme of offering Bagina to the Swarna River was started by former minister Dr V S Acharya. He further said, “There is a proposal for the construction of Snana Gatta which will be initiated soon. A fund of Rs 35 crore has been released for supplying drinking water. Water pressure problems are witnessed during the supply of drinking water, which will be resolved soon. The 3rd phase construction work at Swarna will also be undertaken in due time.”
CMC member Prashant Bhat, Latha Sherigar, Pranesh Bhat, Girish, Harikrishna Shivataya, Vasudev Bhat, Jai Vittal and others were present.
