Udupi: The Mount Rosary English Medium School, Santhekatte celebrated its Annual day function at the school premises here, on December 10 and 11.

Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Secretary of Catholic Education Board Udupi Diocese, addressing the gathering said that institutions must adopt meaningful interventions to achieve their goals. “Parents must accompany their children in the growth process and teachers must motivate them to ignite their minds. Education along with knowledge is a training to face society in the future,” he added.

Fr. Lawrence requested the parents to imbue the students in the rich heritage of the country apart from just academics.

Nagesh Shanubag, Block Education Officer (BEO) Brahmavar, said that that in this advanced technological world, it is not only the duty of the parents to send the ward to the school, but it is their responsibility to cater to their needs in a right way and impart love.

Sr. Adrian Serrao, headmistress of the school, presented the school report highlighting the results of the SSLC board examination. The school has securing 100% results for six consecutive years, showing the commendable progress of the school.

The top scorers for the year 2014-15, President’s and Governor’s medals winners in Scouts & Guides and the Best Out Going Students were honored. Fr Mahesh D’Souza (Best District Teacher award winner) and Jerry Vincent Dais (Honorary Doctorate Holder) were also honoured on the occasion.

The stage programme was followed by variety entertainment and cultural programmes presented by the students.

School Correspondent, Fr. Philip Neri Aranha presided over the function. Sr Laura Rodrigues – Superior of Goretti Convent, Clarence D’Souza – Managing Comittee member, Dr Neri Cornelio – principal of Milagres College Kallianpur, Nithyananda Vimala J Suvarna – president of Parent Teacher Association, Allan Lewis – Assistant governor Rotary district 3180, Purandara Sailian – JCI President and others were present.

The programme began with an invocation. Sunil Poojary and Meena welcomed the gathering. Carolin and Laveena delivered vote of thanks.
