Udupi: The Invitation release ceremony of Pejawar Swamijis Paryaya festival was held at the Govinda Kalyana Mantapa Kinnimulki here on Friday January 1.
The programme began with an invocation, Balaji Raghavendra Acharya welcomed the gathering. Dr G Shanker, president G Shanker Family Trust released the invitation of the Paryaya Celebrations and extended all type of Support from his trust.
Addressing the gathering MLA Pramod Madhwaraj said that the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) has made all arrangements for the successful conduct of the Paryaya festival. CMC is giving priority for maintaining cleanliness in the city during the festival. Temporary toilets have been constructed in various parts of the City.
Potholes on all the roads in the city have been repaired. Rs 54 lakh has been spent for repairing the roads in the city. The Underground drainage work of the Sri Krishna Math area has been completed. The CMC has been spent Rs 54 lakh for the UGD work. The State government has already released a grant of Rs 3 crore each for the Paryaya festival, and for the development of Udupi city. A proposal has been sent to the Kannada Cultural minister for the sanction of more grant for the cultural programme of the Paryaya festival, he added.
Various committee heads presented their reports on the occasion.
Yuvaraj CMC President, Manjunath Commissioner CMC, Raghurama Achar Divana of Pejawar Math, Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor, Harikrishna Punaroor, Gurme Suresh Shetty, K C Kundar, Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, M B Puranik, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others were present.
