Udupi: While everyone is busy in buying gold on the eve of Akshaya Tritiya, Nithyananda Volakadu secretary of Nagarika Samithi, celebrated Akshaya Tritiya by worshiping rice grains saying that the poor can do the same if they find it difficult to buy gold. Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious days of the year as per the Hindu calender.
While devotees, including women, offered Puja and prayers along with bhajans under the leadership of Vedamoorthy Ananda Bhat Heroor. The prices of gold are rising and the poor find it difficult to buy gold. Nithyananda Volakadu offered Puja to the rice grains in Yashodamma near Vidyodaya College, Udupi.
Speaking on the occasion Ananda Bhat Heroor said that the day is one of the most auspicious days as per Hindu calendar and is believed to bring good luck and success.
Nithyananda Volakadu of the citizens forum said that we organised the rituals on the eve of Akshaya Tritiya to support the cause of poor. We don’t degrade the people who buy gold but poor who cannot afford buying gold can follow the ritual.
