Udupi: Bellary-Mumbai based entrepreneur Gurme Suresh Shetty of Kalathur, Kaup joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of the party workers at the District BJP Office here, on March 19.
Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde, District President of BJP welcomed Gurme Suresh Shetty into the BJP fold by registering his name through the BJP mobile SMS system that was launched for the membership campaign.
Gurme Suresh Shetty said that he has closely observed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in strengthening the nation which inspired him to join the BJP. “The present national political scenario hints of positive changes by the Narendra Modi led central government. The history of BJP is significant in nation building and strengthening the perspectives of people. The confidence of leading India can be observed among the young party workers.”
While asked about his past political affiliations, he said that he was considered as a candidate for the assembly polls from Kaup constituency in 2013 representing the Indian National Congress. “The caste equation was followed by the High Command and Vinay Kumar Sorake was given the ticket to contest.” He says that he has no differences with the INC as every party gives ticket based on the situation and caste as it is necessary during the polls.
He also said that he will continue as an active party worker in the BJP and will take up any task assigned by the party. “I have joined the BJP with an invitation from the BJP leaders and party workers,” he added.
