Udupi: A 27-year-old man was killed and several others injured, when a private bus collided head-on with a tourist vehicle on Sunday, February 8 at NH 66, near Balaipade, Kinnimulki.
The deceased has been identified as Santhosh (27), a resident of Belman. The injured persons have been rushed to a nearby private hospital where they are being treated.
According to the police, the victims were on their way to Parangikudru Kemmannu in the tourist vehicle when the accident occurred. A group of auto drivers from Belman Nandalike were travelling in the tourist bus from Belman to Kemmannu, while the private bus was headed in the opposite direction from Udupi to Mangaluru when they collided. Following the impact, the tourist bus toppled causing severe injuries to the passengers.
Sustaining severe injuries, Santhosh died on the spot. The passengers travelling in the other bus escaped with minor injuries.
The Udupi Town Police arrived at the spot and registered a case.
