Udupi: One person was killed on the spot and another injured when a truck carrying gas cylinders collided with a Goods truck on NH 66 near Kinnimulki Swagatha Gopura here, on Thursday, October 22 night.
According to the police, the truck carrying gas cylinders was on its way from Kundapur to Mangaluru. While trying to overtake another vehicle, it collided into a goods truck which was coming from the opposite direction. The driver of the truck carrying the gas cylinders was killed on the spot. The identity of the dead and the injured persons is yet to be known. The injured goods truck driver has been admitted to a local hospital in Udupi.
There was some panic among the local residents when the gas cylinder truck collided. They were later convinced by the police that there was no leakage of gas. Fire tenders and the traffic police were on the spot to deal with any emergencies.
A complaint has been registered in the Traffic Police Station.
