Udupi: Pejwar Swamiji’s Fifth Paryaya will witness Social and Religious development in City

Udupi: The preparatory meeting of the Paryaya Mahothsava 2016 scheduled to be held on January 18, was held at the Govinda Kalyana Mantapa here, on July 18.

Speaking on the occasion, district minister in-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the Paryaya would be an occasion wherein Udupi City would get a new look. Basic infrastructural facilities would be initiated and the festival ‘Nada Habba’ would be celebrated.

He said that the State government has released Rs 15 crore for Mahamastakabhisheka in Karkala. The second phase of projects introduced under ADB scheme worth Rs 90 crore has been taken up.

He said that Udupi is one among 26 other cities in the state included in the list of the Amruth Scheme introduced by the Centre. The Centre would release Rs 100 crore while another Rs 100 crore would be funded by the state to develop each city. Basic infrastructural facilities and beautification of the city will be given priority.

MLA Pramodh Madhwaraj said that he would request the government to release Rs 10 crore for the celebrations.

Sri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math who is ascending the sacred ‘Paryaya Peetha’ during the forthcoming Paryaya celebrations for the fifth time, said he would be committed for the welfare and development of Sri Krishna Math offering basic infrastructural facilities and clean and hygienic ambiance to the devotees. His two year tenure would witness the spreading of Dharma and also the welfare of the people.

He further said that he would introduce a residential school and college up to 12th standard in Pajaka Kshetra in the palatial 40 acres of land, which would stand out as a role model for education across the state. He has also plans to translate religious texts into many languages, as devotees who come here belong to various cultures and traditions.

Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Hegde, Abhayachandra Jain (Minister for Sports, Youth affairs and Fisheries), MP Udupi-Chikkmagaluru Shobha Karandlaje, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and Kota Shrinivas Poojary also shared their views on the Paryaya preparations.

Dr Veerendra Hegde was unanimously elected as the honorary president of Paryaya Samithi. The other office barriers of the committee are, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj, N Vinay Hegde, A Raghavendra Rao, Harikrishna Punaroor, Balaji Raghavendra Acharya, Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor, K Vasudeva Rao, M B Puranik, Dr M Mohan Alva, Narayana Rao, Dr Dayananda Pai, P Ramprasad, K Shrikanth Rao Kemthur (working presidents).

CMC president Yuvaraj, vice president Amritha Krishnamoorthy were also present.

Dear readers, In the last six years, the three BJP chief ministers doled out around Rs 400 crore to religious institutions for development works and other activities within and outside Karnataka. For 2013-14, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar allocated Rs 132.5 crore, surpassing those made by former chief ministers D V Sadananda Gowda and B S Yeddyurappa. In most cases, the donations violated government guidelines issued in September 2010 that put a cap of Rs 10 lakh, Rs 25 lakh and Rs 50 lakh as the maximum amount that could be sanctioned to Muzrai temples, private temples and religious institutions respectively.… Read more »
