Udupi Police Uncover Prostitution Racket; Victim Rescued
Udupi: In a decisive operation, the Udupi police raided the Maurya Hotel lodge in Kinnimulki, successfully dismantling a prostitution racket and rescuing a victim caught in the web of exploitation.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding illicit activities within the hotel, a team led by Inspector Ramachandra Nayak conducted a thorough investigation that culminated in the raid. During the operation, officers seized various items linked to the unlawful activities and managed to rescue the victim, who had been coerced into prostitution.
According to reports, the victim was lured from Shivamogga by an individual named Keshav, who promised her legitimate employment opportunities. However, upon her arrival, she was forced into illegal prostitution activities at the lodge. The owner of the hotel, identified as Jagannath, is accused of facilitating these exploitative operations within his establishment.
In response to this developing situation, a formal complaint has been registered at the Udupi Women’s Police Station against both Keshav and Jagannath, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals from such predatory practices.
