Udupi: The welfare of backward classes with providing economic assistance strengthens them in a democracy said Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha Member. He was speaking at the BCM department meeting organized at the Taluk Panchayat here on October 13.
Government has been initiating steps to provide free education and quality health care for the backward classes.
Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA Udupi said that Rs 2.4 crore has been released for the welfare of the community. He also said that Rs 1.48 core has been released for the construction of churches and organizations of backward classes. The government is committed towards the welfare of the backward classes, he added.
