Udupi: The inauguration of the Rural Office of Bharatiya Janata Party and the Workers’ Meet was held at Madhuvana Complex, Brahmavar here on May 22.
The programme began with the singing of ‘Vande Matharam’ by Shyamala Kundar. Raghavendra Kini, President of BJP Udupi City Committee, welcomed the gathering.
D V Sadananda Gowda, Union Law Affairs Minister, inaugurated the BJP Rural office by cutting the ribbon and later, inaugurated the convention by lighting the traditional lamp.
In his message, Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that the Narendra Modi-led NDA government is aiming at bringing transparency in all spheres of administration. “This is necessary for the development of the nation. It is only a matter of time before the nation will be free from the clutches of corruption. A new chapter of economic prosperity will be added soon to the history of India,” he added.
“People ridiculed Modi when Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana was launched. The scheme that allowed every family to have a bank account with zero balance has enabled the government to prevent corruption by middlemen. People are now able to avail the benefits of the government schemes through their bank accounts directly.
PM Narendra Modi has focused on empowering the states and had invited Siddaramaiah to join him on his China visit. But the CM chose to decline. However, Modi has promoted Karnataka’s interests during his tour,” he said.
“CM Siddaramaiah should focus on administration in the state rather than pointing fingers at the Centre. The meet at Davangere was to celebrate the Congress government’s two years in office. The CM should have listed out his achievements. But he has used the platform politically,” he said.
MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary delivered the key note address. Raghupathi Bhat, former MLA, delivered the introductory remarks. Sunil Kumar (MLA Karkala) and Thingale Vikaramarjuna Hegde (district BJP chief) also spoke on the occasion. To mark the convention, a bike rally was organised from the Karavali Junction to Brahmavar.
