Udupi: It is a show of communal harmony the district Samastha Muslim Paryaya Sauhardha Samiti offered ‘hore kanike’ on January 13, to mark the Paryaya festival of Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math.
More than 30 vehicles laden with paddy, vegetables, coconuts, and other food items were taken out in a grand procession to the temple, where the offerings were made. The procession flagged off at Jodukatte near Big Bazar. The procession passed through the Court road, KM Marg and culminated at the Sri Krishna Temple.
Speaking to the mediapersons Abbubakkar Parkala president of the Samiti said that I am privileged to be a part of this procession. To build communal harmony in the society we have offered the Hore Kanike to the temple. This programme is a model for the nation. On Swamiji’s Pura Pravesha, the Samiti has distributed 5000 buttermilk packets and in the coming days, a blood donation camp will be organised, he added.
Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor of Paryaya Committee, Hamzath Kodi, Mohammed Arif, Ansar Mohammed, Nithyanand Volakadu and others were present.
