Udupi: The Udupi district administration announced the sealing of its borders with four districts from April 11 in an attempt to prevent movement of people from across the districts and contain the transmission of COVID-19.
The Udupi district administration has sealed its borders connecting nearby districts of Shivamogga, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Chikkamagaluru from April 11.
According to Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh, all the three positive COVID-19 patients who are undergoing treatment at the COVID hospital in Udupi have recovered. There is no chance for COVID-19 to spread in the district. There is a fear that people coming from neighbouring districts may spread the disease. We have decided to seal down all the borders. Entry for outsiders to our district and people from our district going outside is strictly banned.
As per the DC’S order, the district police are strictly patrolling the roads across the district. Vehicular movement has been completely banned after 11:00 am in the district. Barricades are being put up at the main junctions in various places of the district. The police are allowing only the essential services vehicles after a thorough check. Those violating the rules will be booked.
