Udupi: Hundreds of students from various schools paid their tribute to former President APJ Abdul Kalam nation’s hero who built the nation on education on Thursday July 30 at a Public condolence meeting organised by Zilla Nagarika Samiti and other associations jointly at Clock Tower near service Bus-stand.
On behalf of the Christian community Fr Fred Mascarenhas Parish priest of the Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi garlanded the portrait of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
In his message Fr Fred Mascarenhas said that Dr Abdul Kalam was an exemplary individual who served his life for the nation. He educated young minds to become good citizens of the country. He breathed his last educating the youth.
Dr Kalam is loved by India because he loved every citizen of India. He inspired Indians to dream big. The nation should grow on his principles and vision, he added.
Dinish Kini managing director of Prime TV and also senior journalist said that we have lost a great son of India who dedicated his entire life for the welfare of the motherland and its people. His teachings, leadership and humanity were inspiration to all, he said.
Later the Students along with the public garlanded Dr Kalam’s portrait. Patriotic songs were sung on the occasion to honour the departed soul.
Nithyananda Volakadu of Nagarika Samithi, Ganesh Raj Sarlebettu, Guruprasad, Tahashildar Udupi; Diwakar Shetty DDPI Udupi; Jayakar Suvarna, President of Working Journalists Association Udupi, Nithyananda Volakadu and others were present.
