Udupi: The entire citizens of the district, welcomed the new year 2015 offering prayers in various churches.
To offer the thanksgiving mass, devotees assembled in the Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur. Prior to the Solemn New Year Eve Mass, a Holy Hour was observed from 7:30 pm to give thanks to the Lord for all the favours received during the year 2014. Fr Mahesh D’Souza conducted the Holy Hour with meaningful prayers and hymns sung by the choir.
The Solemn New Year Eve Mass was celebrated by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese along with Fr Stany B Lobo Rector of Milagres Cathedral and other guest priests.
Bishop Dr Gerald in his homily said that Mother Mary was very humble and she obeyed the will of God throughout her life, She never said ‘No’ to the will of God. She is the role model for all of us and we need to respect our heavenly mother as well as our earthly mothers.
At the end of the Mass, Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo wished the parishioners a happy New Year 2015. After the end of the church service, people were seen exchanging New Year greetings to their family members, relatives, friends and others.
