Udupi tourism should develop like Goa, Kerala – Vinay Kumar Sorake
Udupi: Private sector should join hand to develop tourism in the Udupi district like the states of Goa and Kerala said Vinay Kumar Sorake former minister and Kaup MLA.
He was speaking after inaugurating the district-level world tourism day celebration organised by the Tourism department at Padubidri beach here on September 27.
Udupi district is having very clean beaches; there is a lot of potential to develop tourism in the district. States such as Goa and Kerala have given priority to beach tourism. They have earned a major chunk of revenue from tourism. It is necessary that beach tourism in Udupi district, too, is developed on similar lines.
Madikeri today is developed in Tourism more than 2000 homestays are available there and the people of Madikeri are earning good revenue from the Homestay business. We have planned to develop the beach roads in double lanes in the coming days. If we provide proper infrastructures to tourist, people will surely visit our beaches. Water sports, Homestay, and coastal food will be arranged in Padubidri beach.
Importance is being given to constructing roads in coastal areas to ensure better connectivity. Besides beach tourism, there is ample scope for promoting water sports in the district. If Private entrepreneurs join hands to develop the tourism, Udupi district will also get top place in tourism, he added.
