Udupi Udyoga Mela evokes Overwhelming response
Udupi: A two-day Mega Job Mela, held at the district stadium Ajjarkad on Saturday, January 19 under the aegis of the district youth service and sports department, evoked an overwhelming response from the unemployed educated youth.
Large number of candidates thronged the premises of the district ground since morning where the mela was inaugurated by Kota Srinivas Poojary leader of opposition legislative council.
Udupi ZP president Dinakar Babu, Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, District youth service and sports department assistant director Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty, ZP member Githanjali Suvarna and Social Activist Premprasad Shetty and others were present.
In his inaugural message Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “At present many youth are unemployed due to lack of communication skills. He suggested the youth to improve the communication skills to get the jobs. He congratulated department for conducting the job mela and providing employment opportunities in various companies.
According to department officials, the mela was a success with thousands of job aspirants from across the district visiting the stalls set up by different organizations. They said that candidates from neighbouring districts had also come for the mela.
On Saturday, only candidates who had completed graduation were screened. On Sunday candidates with postgraduate degrees will be interviewed for various posts in participating companies. Many companies conducted skill tests and the result would be conveyed to the candidates later, officials said.
