Udupi: Understanding Other Religions Fosters Respect, Love, and Trust – Fr. Denis D’Sa

Udupi: Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, parish priest of St. Ann’s Church, Thottam, emphasized that understanding other religions’ scriptures, practices, and teachings promotes respect, love, and trust among people.

Fr. D’Sa was speaking at the Friendship Unity Program, organized by Jamaat E-Islami-Hind’s Malpe unit under the Prophet’s Message Campaign said, “All religions teach humanity and harmony. Prophet Mohammad’s messages of compassion, forgiveness, justice, and equality remain relevant today. We live in community, not isolation, and need to share and coexist. United, we can overcome challenges.”

Speaking on behalf of Hinduism, Ramesh Tingleya, President of Tottem Samanvaya Sarva Dharma Samiti, attributed mutual mistrust to social media’s influence, emphasizing the importance of interfaith gatherings.

Janab Isac Puthur, President of Jamaat E Islami Hind, Mangalore, presided over the programme and said that every scripture teaches us to treat others with kindness. Let us strengthen mutual friendship and relationships by doing good deeds in society by following the teachings of our scriptures.

Other dignitaries present included Leslie Aroza, Secretary of Samanvaya Sarva Dharma Samiti, Rev. Edwin Sons, Pastor of Malpe CSI Church, and Ganesh Nergi, President of Ambedkar Yuva Sene were present on the dais.
