Udupi: Baikady Suprasad Shetty, the president of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, flagged off the bike rally held by Vishwa Hindu Parishat and the Bajrang Dal at the Malpe Beach here on March 6.
Addressing the gathering, Suprasad Shetty said, “Our intention is to create awareness about patriotism, religion, culture and language among people. It is also a forum to discuss problems. and our endeavor to show to the world that the Hindu community, despite its frailties, is united and one.” He urged people to participate in the Hindu Samajotsava.
The bike rally passed through Vadabhandeshwara – Malpe Citizen Circle – Kalmadi – Adi Udupi- Karavali Bypass – Ambalpadi Bypass – Brahmagiri – District Hospital Road – Jodukatte – K M Marg – Service Bus-Stand – City Bus Stand – Kalsanka – Kadiyali – Manipal – Salebettu – Shivapadi – Parkala and culminated at the MGM Ground Kadiyali.
The Samajotsava will begin with a procession from Jodukatte to the MGM Ground on March 9 at 2:00 pm. Sri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math will grace the occasion. Dr M Mohan Alva, President of golden jubilee celebration committee of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, will preside over the function. Dignitaries from the community, Swamijis, heads of various organisations and the general public will participate.
Former Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat, Achutha Ameen Kalmadi, Yaspal Suvarna and others were present. More than 1500 bikes took part in rally.
