Udupi: On the occasion of its golden jubilee celebration, the Vishwa Hindu Parishat in association with Bajrang Dal will organise a Hindu Samajotsava at Mahatma Gandhi College ground here on March 9, said Suprasad Shetty, President of Vishwa Hindu Parishat.
He was addressing mediapersons at the Press Club on Friday, February 6. Shetty said that the Hindu Samajotsava Samiti has been formed for the event and that more than one lakh people are expected to gather. The event will begin with a procession from Jodukatte to the MGM Ground on March 9 at 2:00 pm. Praveen Bhai Thogadia, international President of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, will deliver the keynote address. Shree Vishweshatheertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math will grace the occasion. Dr M Mohan Alva, President of golden jubilee celebration committee of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, will preside over the function. Dignitaries from the community, swamijis, heads of various organisations and general public will participate.
“Our intention is to create awareness about patriotism, religion, culture and language among people. It is also a forum to discuss problems. The Samajotsava is also a forum for the organization to draw attention to the pressing problems that members of the Hindu community face such as cow slaughter, Love Jihad, religious conversion, and exploitation of women. It is also our endeavor to show to the world that the Hindu community, despite its frailties, is united and one,” he said.
VHP vice president Narayan Manya, Umesh Shetty, Secretary Ganesh Kini and Divakar Shetty were present in the press meet.
