Udupi: The first machine Visumax Femtosecond Laser Bladeless LASIK and SMILE machine (German made) in costal Karnataka was inaugurated at the Prasad Netralaya here, on October 2.
Dr Krishna Prasad, Medical Director of Prasad Netralaya and Chairman of Nethrajyothi Trust, said that the Visumax Femtosecond Laser Bladeless LASIK and SMILE machine is a boon for eye care. The treatment is painless and a discount of 40% is given to the patients who go through the treatment in the first three months. Prasad Netralaya has been effectively promoting eye donation and eye care programmes. The hospital has been conducting free eye check up camps in the twin districts. The hospital has 10,000 registered eye donors, where 300 cornea transplants have already been undertaken. The hospital is registered for fellowship programme under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Oscar Fernandes, former union minister and Rajya Sabha MP, inaugurating the Lasik Work Station said that Dr Krishna Prasad has been effectively handling eye care surgeries with state-of-the-art technology. “His expertise in handling eye care issues is appreciable. He serves the people with great affection, love and care which is really appreciable. The advanced eye care facilities introduced in Prasad Netralaya makes the hospital special among other hospitals. Dr Prasad is also holding free eye check up camps and is encouraging eye donation which serves the purpose of humanity, he added.
