Udupi: The foundation stone was laid for the Morarji Desai English Medium Residential School of Kaup Constituency at Heerebettu Grama Panchayat limits here, on Saturday, November 21.
District minister in-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake laid the foundation stone for the school building on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the school building would come up on a 10 acre land and it would be completed in 12 months. The state government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore for the school building. The two floor building will include the school, boys and girls residential rooms, staff rooms, teachers quarters, security house and dining hall and kitchen.
In the last 2 years of Siddaramaiah’s government, the Heerebettu grama panchayat has received around Rs 16 crore as development funds. The widening work of the Atradi-Heerebettu road has started at a cost of Rs 4 crore, he added.
President of Taluk Panchayat Sunitha Naik, president of Atradi Grama Panchayat Prameela, ZP member Upendra Nayak, TP member Gurudath Bhandary, Harish L Gaonkar and others were present.
