Udupi: Women Entrepreneurs showcase their products at Power Parba – 2016

Udupi: The Platform of Women Entrepreneurs Registered “POWER” organised a two-day long marketing cum sale festival “Power Parba – 2016” at the Nutana Ravindra Mantapa MGM College here on Saturday February 6.

The programme began with an invocation, Saritha Santhosh president of POWER welcomed the gathering. Ushaprabha N Nayak secretary and correspondent Expert Group of Institutions inaugurated the “Power Parba – 2016” by lighting the lamp and wished all success for the festival.

Event Coordinator Renu Jayaram in her introductory remarks said that the event is being organised to promote the products made by rural and urban women entrepreneurs. The exhibitors have come from across Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, West Bengal and Maharastra. This is a unique attempt to create a space for women entrepreneurs. The objective of the exhibition is to provide women entrepreneurs with a platform to sell their products under a single roof and create awareness among people about the products manufactured by women entrepreneurs, she added.

Kusuma Karanth and Sudha Kamath achievers in women Entrepreneurship were honoured on the occasion. Later the Power Flash bulletin was released.

The products on display include saris and dress materials, homemade decorative items, bags, cosmetics, artificial jewellery, toys, food products, baskets, incense sticks and others. 60 to 100 stalls had been put up selling products manufactured solely by women entrepreneurs.

Different types of art products included paper quilling craft, designer envelopes and greeting cards. There were a variety of herbal and ayurvedic products, good for health and skin.

Annamalai, Superintendent of Police Udupi district; Dr AP Achar Director, Sahyadri School of Management; Prof Kusuma Kamath principal MGM College Udupi and others were present on the occasion.
