Udupi: Yemen Crisis – Five from District reach Mumbai

Udupi: Five persons from the district who were stranded in Yemen, have been rescued by the Indian Government and have reached Mumbai on April 6.

Prema (50), a nurse by profession, worked in a hospital in Yemen from 20 years. Her husband Prafulla chandra is a native of Uppoor. Prafulla chandra’s sister Saroja (44) and her husband Ganesh (48) were also rescued along with their children Sagar Ganesh (10) and Sneha Ganesh (8). Ganesh and Saroja had visited India 4 months ago.

Prema and Saroja, both nurses by profession, had together moved to Yemen and were working in a hospital. Saroja’s husband Ganesh was working for a oil company. Saroja’s children were pursuing their studies in Yemen.

Central Minister D V Sadananda Gowda helped in rescuing all of them from Yemen. Deputy Commissioner Dr R Vishal had contacted the Ministry of External Affairs for support, said family members of Prema.

Speaking to mangalorean.com, Prafulla Chandra said that he is expecting his wife and his sister along with her husband and children to arrive to Udupi within the next 3 days. He also said that the district administration and the central government had assisted them during the crisis.
