Udupi: A total of fourty six nominations for the Zilla panchayat and 151 for the taluk Panchayat have been received on the fifth day here on February 5.
In the Udupi Taluk a total of 21 nominations for the Zilla Panchayat including 8 congress, 10 BJP, 2 JD(S) and One Independent candidates filed their nominations.
In Karkala Taluk a total of six nominations for the Zilla Panchayat including 3 congress and 3 BJP candidates filed their nominations.
In Kundpur Taluk a total of 18 candidates filed their nominations for the Zilla Panchayat elections. Suresh Batwadi (BJP), Rama K (Independent), Madan (Congress) filed their nomination from Shiroor constituency. Raju Poojary (Congress) filed three set of nomination papers from Byndoor constituency. Gowri Devadiga (Congress), Priyadarshini (BJP) filed their nominations from Kambadakone constituency. Manjayya Shetty (Congress) from Vandse, Jyothi (Congress), Susheela (BJP), Poornima (CPIM) from Kavradi constituency, Geetha (Congress) from Koteshwar constituency, Sanjeeva Shetty (Congress) from Siddapura, Ashalatha (Congress) from Haladi constituency filed their nominations.
For the Taluk Panchayath elections a totoal of 53 nominations including 29 congress and 24 BJP candidates filed their nominations.
In Karkala Taluk a total of 27 candidates including 14 congress, 12 BJP, One Independent candidates filed their nominations.
In Kundapur Taluk a total of 61 nominations including 36 congress, 18 BJP, 3 JD(S), 3 CPIM and one 1 independent candidate field their nominations.
February 8 is the last date to submit the nominations, which will be scrutinized on February 9. February 11 is the last date to withdraw the nominations.
